Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information cafarellicounsel.com collects, who receives it, how long it is kept, and what you can ask me to do about it. It covers this website only.
Who operates this site
This website is operated by Michael Cafarelli, doing business as Cafarelli Counsel, a sole law practice located at 910 N Martel Ave, Unit 205, Los Angeles, CA 90046. Michael Cafarelli is responsible for its content and for the handling of information described here.
What is collected
Information you submit. If you use the contact form, I receive what you enter: your name, email address, a phone number if you choose to provide one, the subject category you select, your state, the names of any other parties involved, and any brief description you write. The names are collected so I can begin a conflicts check before responding; the description is optional and limited in length.
Information collected automatically. Like nearly all websites, this one generates technical records when you visit. The hosting provider maintains standard access logs, the form provider records technical data with each submission, and the analytics beacon records limited page and technical information as described below. These typically include IP address, browser and device type, referring page, approximate location, and timestamps. This data is used for security, spam prevention, site reliability, and understanding how the site is used.
There is no account system, no newsletter, no purchase function, and no third-party advertising.
Who receives your information
Information is not sold, rented, traded, or used for advertising. It is shared with the following categories of service providers, and with any subprocessors they engage to deliver those services:
- Form processing — Contact form submissions are transmitted and delivered by Formspree, which receives the contents of your submission plus associated technical data in order to deliver it and filter spam. See Formspree's privacy policy.
- Analytics — Cloudflare receives limited page and technical information about your visit, as described under "Analytics and cookies" below.
- Email — Submissions arrive in, and are stored in, my email provider's systems.
- Hosting — The site is served by a third-party static hosting provider that maintains access logs.
- Legal and professional obligations — Information may be disclosed where required by law, court order, or the applicable rules of professional conduct.
How long it is kept

I will honor verified deletion requests for information reasonably identifiable in systems I control, subject to legal and professional obligations and technical limitations. I cannot guarantee removal from a vendor's backups on any particular schedule.
Analytics and cookies
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate visits, referral sources, page usage, device categories, and site performance. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies, local storage, persistent identifiers, or cross-site tracking. Your browser nevertheless communicates limited page and technical information to Cloudflare when the analytics beacon runs.
This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no advertising networks, and loads no fonts, scripts, or other assets from Google. Cloudflare states that it does not use this data to track individuals across the sites of different Cloudflare customers. No personal information is sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Do Not Track. This site does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals, because no consistent industry standard for honoring them exists. Browser extensions and privacy-focused browsers that block analytics beacons will prevent the Cloudflare beacon from loading, and doing so has no effect on your ability to use this site or to contact me.
Confidentiality — please read
Submitting the contact form does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship. Do not send confidential, sensitive, or time-sensitive information. Cafarelli Counsel will not undertake representation unless it confirms the engagement in writing. Applicable law may protect certain information received from prospective clients even if no engagement results — but the safest course is to keep your initial message general and save the details for a conversation.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete information reasonably identifiable in systems I control, subject to conflict-checking, legal, security, and professional-retention obligations. If applicable law provides you additional rights, I will honor those rights.
To make a request, use the contact form and note that you are making a privacy request, or write to the address above. I may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from children under 13.
Third-party links
This site may link to other websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not govern them.
Changes
This policy may be updated. Any revision will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
